Generative engine optimization.

Generative engine optimization (GEO) is the work of becoming the answer inside AI assistants: the practice ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini and Google's AI Overviews name when someone asks who should design their building, their interior or their website. The recommendation happens inside the answer, often with no click. I do it as part of every website I build, and as a standalone service for a site you already have.

What generative engine optimization is, in plain terms

Classic SEO wins a click on a results page. GEO wins a place inside a generated answer. Forty-five percent of consumers now use generative AI for local business recommendations, and AI Overviews cut clicks on top-ranking pages by more than half. A practice that only exists as a blue link is losing the decisions that are made inside the chat.

The engines select what they can parse and quote cleanly, and they recommend entities they see mentioned consistently across the web. Across 75,000 brands, being cited correlates with brand mentions at 0.66 and with backlinks at only 0.22. That changes what the work is: structure on the site, and mentions off it.

What I do on your site

  • Answer first. Every important page and section states its answer in the first sixty words, the way a model extracts it.
  • Question-shaped headings in your buyers' words, cleanly nested, so the page has a map the engines can follow.
  • Quotable claims. One fact per sentence where it counts; any key sentence stays true when lifted out of context.
  • Structured data for the practice, the person behind it, each service, each FAQ, each project, validated on every deploy.
  • Content parity without JavaScript. Most AI crawlers do not run scripts; everything that matters is in the raw HTML, and the crawlers are explicitly allowed in.
  • An llms.txt index and an RSS feed, so agents find the pages that matter without guessing.

What I do off your site

  • One entity, everywhere. The same name, role, location and links on every profile, with sameAs data tying them together. AI systems recommend entities, not URLs.
  • Mentions where the questions are asked. Genuine answers in the communities your buyers read, and placement on the pages the engines already cite for your niche.
  • Review platforms and directories that matter, worked properly: active profiles roughly triple citation odds.
  • Original data. Studies from real measurements are what other sites link to and what engines cite; I publish them on your behalf where you have the material.

How it is measured

Every month, twenty buying-intent prompts for your practice run against each engine. For each one I log whether you are cited, mentioned without a citation, or absent, and which competitors were named instead. You get the table; I ship one improvement a week against the biggest gap. Citations lag classic rankings by one to two months, so the first movement usually shows in the second and third month.

With a website, or on its own

Every site I build ships with this work done. If your current site is good and you want to be the answer, GEO is available as a standalone engagement: a structural pass on your existing pages, the entity and mentions programme, and the monthly measurement. Fixed price, agreed before we start; see the investment section.

Questions people ask

What is generative engine optimization?
GEO is the practice of making a business the one that AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini and Google AI Overviews name and cite in their answers, by structuring pages for extraction and building consistent brand mentions across the web.
How is GEO different from SEO?
SEO earns a click from a results page; GEO earns a place inside the generated answer, where the recommendation is often made without any click. Good SEO remains the baseline, because the engines still have to find and parse the pages.
How long until an AI assistant mentions my practice?
AI visibility lags classic rankings by one to two months. With a well-structured site and an active mentions programme, first mentions typically appear from month two to three and citations after that.
Can I buy GEO without a new website?
Yes. The standalone engagement covers a structural pass on your existing pages, the entity and mentions programme, and monthly share-of-voice measurement across the engines.
Do you guarantee a position?
No one honestly can. What I guarantee is the work and the measurement: you see, every month, where you are cited, where you are absent, and what was shipped against it.
